NYR #4

January 15, 2009

Mack was sent to the school nurse this morning.  To date, he has required medical attention 11 times this year- it’s January 15th.  I am beginning to believe my son is either extremely accident prone or a hypochondriac.

Regardless of the circumstances he is extremely proud of the splint and corresponding Ace bandage that now adorn his wrist and thumb.  Personally, I think the poor school nurse got so tired of his pestering that she gave up some medical surplus to satiate his injury fantasy and earn a reprieve from his nagging.

However, since neither Connie or I are medical professionals we cannot disprove his claim so we are obliged to pamper him a bit.  But I will say watching him max-out guitar hero this evening has created a degree of doubt regarding the legitimacy of his injury.

Guitar Hero brings out the best in us.

Visits to the school nurse are better than the 13 detentions Peter had in less than 2 months. He’s lucky he’s not in a splint after that- compliments of me and not a kind school nurse!

You’re right, rather have a long medical history than a criminal record- that being said he is not even close to my detention record so I wouldn’t sweat it to much.

Kelli, just to keep you appraised the kids have been playing guitar hero for the past hour- but only one song- No Sleep to Brooklyn”, I am about to lose my mind.

Good luck with that. My husband has been on a Tool kick lately, so I constantly have “Schism” playing in my head. We have World Tour, and he thinks he is just such a badass because he can play drums and sing at the same time. *sigh*

My wife is an expert drummer- I am a novice bass player with about as much musical talent as an armidillo. I can hear them down in the basement right now rehearsing, no way can I keep up with that, I’m doomed to be a roadie.
